Overview

Within the realization of IPA project Hamlet at the Besac Fortress in Virpazar, the Ministry of Culture of Montenegro organized a round table and workshop, with the aim of presenting the possibilities of tourist valorization and promotion of the intangible cultural heritage of the Skadar Lake area.

At the event, the results of the territorial mapping of the area of ​​Skadar Lake were presented, and the participants were given the opportunity, through an interactive discussion, to make their proposals in relation to the perspectives of tangible and intangible cultural heritage whose valorization would contribute to the further promotion of this area. In addition, the participants shared their views about the development of entrepreneurship closely related to traditional crafts that represents one of the most important segments of the intangible cultural heritage of this area.

Participants were presented with a proposal for a cultural route for the area of ​​Godinje, Virpazar, Karuč and Vranjina, formed with the aim of further valorization of the cultural potentials of the Skadar Lake.

Participants of the event were representatives of national and local cultural institutions, tourist organizations, municipalities, and the event was also attended by businessmen from the Skadar Lake area.

Project HAMLET is implemented within the First Call of the Interreg IPA cross-border cooperation program Italy-Albania-Montenegro, and is based on the promotion of less known tourist destinations whose heritage has rural architecture and cultural specialty. Selected locations in Montenegro which are included in the project are the area of ​​Skadar Lake and the Bihor area, and the main activities of the project are related to the promotion of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, especially traditional crafts, with the aim of tourist valorization. The Ministry of Culture of Montenegro participates on this project as project partner, and the Association of Municipalities of Montenegro as an associate partner. The main partner on the project is the Ministry of Culture of Albania, while the other partners are URI Research Institute from Albania, CNA Bari (Craft Chamber) and Puglia Promozione (Regional Tourism Agency), while the Region of Puglia is an associate partner. The approved budget of the project is 975,800.00 €, out of which the budget of the Ministry of Culture of Montenegro is 203,260.00 €
