Agency Pugliapromozione, partner of HAMLET project, organized an important event “Hamlets on the move: pathways to valorisation” on April 16th 2019 at the Cineporto - Fiera del Levante, Lungomare Starita, Bari. The event was attended by representatives of Municipalities and local cultural and environmental operators and organizations from 5 Apulian hamlets (Vico del Gargano, Bovino, Cisternino, Pulsano and Galatone).
After the institutional greetings of Ms Carmela Antonino, the presentation of the projects and its main objectives and activities followed. The round table continued with the presentation of the first results obtained from Environmental and cultural research activities; the common methodology to collect data; the main findings for each hamlet and the critical points for which was difficult to collect data.
Thanks to active participation and valuable contribution from all involved participants, Pugliapromozione managed to get information from the first hand: Delegates from Pro Loco Bovino reported constant on-going activities for tourists and inhabitants and shared enthusiasm for the project, while delegates from Vico del Gargano reported scarce engagement by local authority and found the mapping quite complete. Delegates from Pulsano, namely the Mayor, expressed his willing to support project activities and to involve all citizens. On the other hand, representative from Galatone reported a consistent cultural tradition. Finally, representatives from Cisternino underlined a significant tradition in the production of charcuterie and cheese and a particular engagement in touristic promotion.
The main conclusions from the meeting:
- Pugliapromozione will prepare a special form in order to point out particular features that weren’t mentioned in the mapping;
- Representatives will send by email proposals where the set of equipment should be installed in order to improve the touristic valorisation;
- Instead of purchasing the furniture for Info Point, all representatives pointed out the need to enhance human resources for some of the existing Info-Point and the necessity for promotional material. The discussion followed and the main proposal in this regard was to create mobile Info-Points by purchasing one electric bike which will be equipped according to the needs of Info Point. This specific proposal will be presented to all partners in order to evaluate the feasibility of the idea.
During the meeting, it was clear that those 5 villages share the same love and pride for ancient crafts still present though rare, and for their traditions, cherished and guaranteed by local associations.
